Nova Scotia's Proposed Protected Areas: How well do they capture large intact forest landscapes?

(2013-05-01) This bulletin was prepared by Global Forest Watch Canada in order to assess the amount of intact forest landscapes captured in the proposed protected areas announced by Nova Scotia's Department of Environment in February 2013. The analysis shows that the proposed protected areas would add 124,000 hectares of additional large intact forests to Nova Scotia's system of protected areas and that there are additional opportunities for protecting the critically-endangered intact Acadian forests.
